"OH NO, RICKY!! I just wore the battery down when I was showing Fred & Ethel how it works 15 times!!" :-) I just love seeing the actual car in demonstration! I built a car model kit of the 1959 Ford Skyliner with the same feature and looking at the scaling, etc. it really took up room in the trunk with that roof in there too!

That was the 1957 Fairlane 500 Skyliner retractable hardtop...top of the Ford line for 1957...It was produced for three model years (1957, 1958 and 1959) before it was discontinued.
The same principle is used on the new Chrysler Sebring and Pontiac G6 hardtop convertibles, among others! Ford had a better idea 50 years ahead of its time!
