Robot Riding a Bicycle

'Kensaku-kun' rides a bicycle in this demonstration at the CEATEC Japan 2006 Electronics show, the largest in the world. Isn't he cute?! (This is a clip from the video podcast on this show, to be found on these pages.)

Note- I first created this as an experiment in 'viral video', wondering if a short clip of something cute and unusual would quickly get lots of views. It took time to happen, but lo and behold I was right. This is now my most watched video and it shows that whilst people don't have 10 minutes to spare these days- they do have 43 seconds!

I feel like it wouldn't take more than a sneeze to blow that thing over. You could just make a bicycle, put the motor in that . attach action figure legs to pedals, and make the tires flat. congratulations, you have made a bicycling robot.

is the robot actually balancing itself? seems like the bicycle can't topple... not very impressive in that case... just a remote-controlled battery-run car in a different shape.
