.State fair, county fair, we have a winner, poor man's hot dish, seriously a blue ribbon will be taken home with this delicious stovetop el-cheapo and easy to cook, just good old southern comfort food, hamburger (ground chuck) @$2.78, saute until brown, quartered and added last one medium size green cabbage 1.89 lb. @$1.30, diced and sauted one big yellow sweet onion from Peru .58 lb. @.81 cents, two cans store brand canned tomatoes two for .58 cents each @$1.16, throw in some sea salt and ground black pepper, it's the only seasoning you need, cooked in a Lodge 10 and 1/2 inch cast iron skillet, made in the USA, bought at a yard sale for two dollars, seasoned well, used daily,, thank you, add sales tax, electricity, about eight bucks total, not bad for an amazing, unbelievably good four serving home cooked supper, along with the worlds best asparagus cornbread baked in a no name #5 eight inch cast iron frying pan, add a homemade bread pudding for dessert, (recipe later) cost a little more but worth it,, cook the hot dish on low to medium heat for about 45 minutes, until the cabbage is tender, enjoy, leave a comment, subscribe, pass it on, enjoy the show, thanks from the east coast of Arkansas, get back dog! get back!........

  • This lookas almost like a dish Mom used to make for us, Joes special, made much the same but with spinach instead of cabbage, give it a try! Another You might like is a British dish called "Bubble and squeak, made with cabbage and bacon grease, fried crispy on the edges,it's better than it sounds, Look 'em both up and maybe give them a try, This might be a favorite for You as they are for Me, and a cast iron skillet is a must for cooking both.

  • @Oldbmwr100rs , yes , I done got a cabbage on the sideboard, just waiting on sunday, gonna have fried cabbage (in bacon grease, with the bacon chopped up and cooked in the dish), cornbread, pinto beans, and something sweet,,,, fried cabbage in a cast iron skillet, yes I growed up on that stuff,, thanks, shopdogsam

  • I like that you don't cook with eggs. I'm allergic to eggs. This sounds really good, I may have to try these recipes. We love our corn bread down here.

  • @creativeinsomniac ..Aaaa,,, try this poor man's hot dish served over a big piece of homemade cornbread, yes it's that good, shopdogsam
