Dinner with Friends - Rough (2 of 2)

This is a scene we cut in real time for our RTF340 Studio Production class, shot with a three-camera setup. It's the third of three takes, and the cuts are still very rough.

Yeah? Do you have the final version uploaded? My scene partner and I have to cut it down to 5 min for our competition and I saw that yours came out to 16 min or something like that

Unfortunately I don't.. it's on an old hard drive somewhere. Basically, we cut out much of the dialogue that really wasn't working - especially that which referred to other parts of the film not relevant to the goals of this scene and that which didn't carry a lot of subtext. It ended up being around 9-10 minutes. I highly recommend watching the original scene from the movie as it's much better done. I wish we were allowed to see it beforehand!

I'm doing this scene for a competition, it was nice to get a look at it. The filming was very good, but the acting was awkward.

lol thanks :D that might be due to poor directing as well! the set was also way too wide and shallow.. we ended up cutting out a lot of dialogue in the final version.

She did a really bad job on her lines. Her acting doesn't look realistic at all. She looks very weak and the way that she talks... She sounds more lazier than trying to defend herself.

This is by far...the most extraordinary piece of art I have ever witnessed. I find myself in tears daily, as I return to watch these exceptional actors. What beauty they have brought from the page to the stage. Just excellent.

The Tom was alright. The girl sucks ball sacks. And the climax....well it wasn't much of a climax.

when I read dinner with friends, which I loved I didn't imagine this. This scene was far more raw, loud,quick, and aggressive in the play. . these guys seem quiet and lazy....

Yeah, that's what my teacher suggested, especially since the scene is so naturalistic and they don't expect that from students.
