But seriously. I use DVD shrink 3.2 ( http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/DVD-Shrink-Download-4128.html ), and PSP Video 9 ( http://www.pspvideo9.com ). take and download the applications.
On PSP video 9 when asked to either open or save the installation files, will download as REDKAWA. Do not be alarmed if you see this, this is the correct file.
once downloaded you MUST go into DVD shrink and uncheck the "split video into 1Gb chunks." To do so you must open the program. Select the "Edit" tab on top then select "Preferences". Under that window that pops up, select the "output files" tab. In that window you will see the option to uncheck to "split VOB files into 1Gb chunks". Once done so then you may begin with the actual process.
Pop in the selected DVD and cancel the autplay if it does so. Open DVD shrink, select the open disc button at the top, should have the dvd already selected. If not then select the drive where the dvd is located. Once found click ok to start the opening. Deselect the video preview to make the process go by quicker.
Once opened you will have files on the right column. Dont click anything. you then select the "Reauthor" button. Once selected the files will show up on the right. Scroll down to where it says "main movie". Occasionally you will have two files of the same size, If so then click once and select play on the bottom left window to have a video preview to see if the file is the WIDEscreen or FULL screen version. Once verified then double click the desired file. The file will show up on the left column. Once completed then you may select the "Backup" button on the top. This is where you can select the destination folder for you movie to go. Once selected then you may click ok to begin the backing up of the DVD movie. Again deselect the video preview to make the process go by quicker.
After process is complete you will recieve a small window telling you that the dvd has been successfully backed up.
On some occasions if the DVD is copy-protected it will not successfully shrink and so the DVD is unshrinkable.
WHen completed you have the full movie with no special features saved onto your harddrive. You may now eject the DVD.
Now to shrink it even further to iPOD format you then open up PSP Video 9. This program will work with any MP4 video capable device for example any video iPOD and PSPs. When the program is open you select the "convert" tab on top. when in this window select the "current conversion" smaller tab on top. Once here then click the "convert video" button and find your saved DVD shrink video file. (look in the video folder and SHOULD be the only selectable VOB file). Then when selected your file will appear in the titl bar on the right.
Here and ONLY here can you change the name of the file to the name of the movie.
Select the profile dropdown box and select the very top format option.
(this is what i use most of the time you may experiment with different format however i reccommend experimenting on a much smaller video so you are not sitting there waiting on the conversion to finish)
double check to make sure that the device is PSP. when finished with everything then select the "apply" button on the right.
THis will begin the conversion.
WHEN CONVERSION IS AT 100%, DO NOT TOUCH. YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE "CONVERSION COMPLETE" SIGNAL BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING. PROGRAM MAY HANG AT 100% FOR A WHILE BEFORE FINISHING. LET THE PROGRAM FINISH.
Now your video has been drastically reduced in size from the original DVD size which was probably 3 or more gigabytes to now less than 1 gig. In most cases between 500 and 700 megabytes is normal.
This is where you find your converted video in the "My Documents" folder. Then select the "converted video" folder. THen select the "PSP" folder. Then select the MPEG-4 folder. Your video will not work if there is no complimentary JPG file with the same name. This may be deleted.
Open your iTunes if for an iPod. open the movies tab on the left. Take your MP4 video file and drag into your itunes movie library. It might take a minute to fully adapt but your file will show up. This is where you may sync or drag your video file into your ipod.
Now you have a full length DVD on your iPod. =)
Note!!! This also works with any form of video. For example if you have a .wmv or .mpeg you may skip the entire DVD process and go straight to the PSP Video 9 portion of converting. All steps are the same.
after u put it on a ipod can the dvd still be watchable
