i had 08 teocali comp and it was a good bike for the price,i went uphill just like riding a hardtail bike and performs as good as the high end bikes.down hill was not an issue with my teocali.it was a heavy bike but what can you expect for a full suspenssion less than 1grand.i think the company needs more aggressive marketing,
the mongoose ive owned was an old 05 model. It had good suspension, and it was a little heavy. I just bought a new 2010 Diamondback Sorrento after my front brake broke on my old mongoose.
Mongoose must have changed something for the 2009 freedrive setup because I ride the 2009 Teocali Super and with an RP23 rear shock and it is faster on my 20 mile rides and I got energy leftover too. I had a 2007 Cannondale Rush 5 with I think what is called single pivot and the Goose wins out. I aint going back to Cannondale. The FreeDrive does more with my effort.
the suspension linkage is awful very inefficient more energy is wasted peddling uphill now an ellsworth that a different story the ICT Linkage is the most efficient in the world all the power you put out goes straight to the ground if your going to spend alot of money on a bike you might as well go all the way
Eh, Khybers are OK. the only 'goose ive ever owned is the 07 teocali comp, which is actually quite good. im more of a freerider, and my other bike is an iron horse, but i got the teocali for highschool xc racing and pretty much dominated. for the price range of the khyber i'd look at iron horses or norcos, but i hear the khyber is a nice bike.
Never ridden the Khyber, but Mongoose bikes in general are (in my experience) cheaply assembled and poorly equipped. Even on the really high end, you're better off going with another brand. In that price range (2800 USD) of all-mountain/light freeride bikes I'd recommend something like the Jamis Dakar Xam 1. That gets you better components overall plus better build quality.

Just my two cents.
Good luck either way!

What does everything about the Khyber Super? I'm thinking about buying one. Anyone ever ridden one?
