I'm actually taking a Nurse Care Technician course which is CNA/PCT combined. Most LPN positions are being given to NCT's in hospitals now.

Many people who become CNA's have an interest in pursuing the nursing field. I would recommend CNA's move towards being a Licenced Practical Nurse than a medical assistant. There is an LPN to RN bridge, but no CMA to RN bridge.

I would only advise this job to someone that has a sincere heart and love for helping others. Most of the things you do on the job greatly outweighs the money you get in return. This job can be very stressful but personally rewarding too. After time its possible you will get bored because the job gets repetitive and you dont learn new things, so for that reason I would suggest a Medical Assistant course where you learn to draw blood etc instead of just emptying bedpans everyday at a nursing home
