winter First chunk of winter fished hard through the night in cold winds and heavy rain to wake up to a different day with sunshine and showers. i had a double in the morning followed up with a 24lb 2oz mirror both caught at range on a naked chod rig with a pink 15mm pop-up

it was designed for fishing over weed an chod hence the name. but it can be used with a single bright popup and can be cast anywhere and you know it is never tangled.i will use it to cast to showing fish with a hi viz popup to get an instant response.the chod rig is a very crude rig it sticks 2-3 inches off the bottom and small fish find it very easy to not get hooked but the bigger fish ie 20lb + carp because they are so much broader they struggle to see so close to the bottom cus of their size

@TheMeistereckhart a naked chod ia a chod rig which is fished directly onto the mainline fished with two beads on korda sinkers that fix the hooklink in place and then it is fished helicopter style with a lead on the end. this is more delicate than fishing it on leadcore and gives you better range as lead core is restrictive to your cast

@TheMeistereckhart so you will avoid the smaller fish and if you do hook small carp it does depend to be in strange positions such as in the chin. i would also use it with a standard popup not a hi viz over a very wide spread of matching boilies the baits must be spread apart around 6foot between baits so the fish are searching for baits one by one.as when they feed like this the chod rig is very effective the last this you want is a tightly grouped baited area as the 3inch popup wll look odd

@sleepyfisherman10 thanx. when would you choose a chod, other then in weedy situations? is it also for rig shy fish, or something else? havent used it here in the netherlands, thats why i ask.
