Don't feel bad -- my first time out alone I was in a similar situation with the shore dump, except my leash was hopelessly tangled in a huge clump of seaweed. Three feet from shore and getting hammered. Talk about a kook moment.

Just because you try to paddle out does not make you a "surfer". Are you an actor if you read a few lines to your friend? No, it takes time to become a Surfer. Its amazing how dummy down people have brought this art/sport. Dont call yourself a surfer, actor, martial artist, artist, Chef, or any other talented field without first paying your dues. This guy show in video is taking his first steps into a great way of life. It takes a lot of time though. One day you will be a surfer.
