This video will show you how to "softmod" your Nintendo Wii so you can play Wii game backups or downloaded Wii games. Please note if you do not follow this guide correctly it may damage your Wii. We are not responsible for anything that happens.

Even if you do not have backup or downloaded Wii games to play I recommend still following this guide because it does a lot of good things for your WIi.
Before you start...
-make sure you have the Homebrew Wii Channel. If you do not watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OXMK_M77lg

-Make sure you have an SD card formatted to FAT 32 or FAT (2GB or less sd card if your wii is under 4.1, if you have 4.1 you can use any size sd card).
-CHECK YOUR WII VERSION!!! You cannot follow this guide unless your Wii is version 3.1-4.1
-TURN WII CONNECT-24 OFF. In my "How to hack your Wii and Install the Homebrew Channel I show you how to do it. You Wii will need to be connected to the internet though for this guide.

-THE STEPS-
1. Download these files and put them in the root of your sd card as shown in the video:
http://depositfiles.com/en/files/iiuior4ec?redirect
-You will need a program called Winrar to extract the files. Download it here:
PC Winrar: http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Mac Winrar: http://www.unrarx.com/

2. Back-up your NAND (Wii memory) follow the video I can't make the description too long
3. Get a CIOS
a). Go to Homebrew channel and run Trucha Bug Restorer, load IOS36, press 1, read the warnings then select 'downgrade IOS15', select to load IOS from SD card then let it do its job, keep an eye on what it is doing and make sure you select 'load from sd card' when it asks & don't get any errors.
b) Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, this time select to load IOS15 on first screen using dpad left/right, then select the IOS36 menu & install patched (select 'yes' on all 3 patches) IOS36 to slot 36, again using IOS from SD card.
c) Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, load IOS36 and this time select restore IOS15.
d) Run cIOS38 r14 installer, select IOS36 as the one it should use and then select wad install.
If your Homebrew Channel flips upside down then continue with the guide and when completed reinstall the homebrew channel.

4. UPDATE YOUR SYSTEM MENU VERSION

Warning - If you don't install the patched IOS60 first you will brick!

This step is optional unless you are on 3.1, 3.3 or 3.4 in which case you must update, if you are on 3.2 or 4.0 you can update if you want and it is recommended that you do, if you are on 4.1 there is no need obviously! If you are on 3.1 you will have to update to 4.0 first, make sure you install the patched IOS60 first though still. Before you update to 4.1 make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first with Wad Manager using IOS249, then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update now - DO NOT install priiloader until you have updated as it will cause untold problems!.

Any ideas? I followed all of your videos exactly, including setting up the homebrew channel. Thanks for taking the time and effort for constructing these; really appreciate it. Look forward to your reply.

  • @tzeh84 I am also having this same problem. I also used his video for setting on homebrew and downgrading to 4.1.
