@knd108 Why is "gay" not the correct term? It's speech, man. Over the years words evolve. As I'm sure you know, gay didn't even originally mean "homosexual," but meant "happy." Retarded meant slow, like in music "retardando" means to slow the tempo. Ass meant donkey, cock meant rooser, and and "lame" as you previously mentioned, used to mean what we now think of as "retarded."
My point is, yes, it can be hurtful, and yes, people should be more careful with their word choice, but speech evolves.

@XterierD: Ghengis Khan had a descendant, Timur. Timur was shot with an arrow in his achilles or something in his leg and could never walk the same again. Hence "Timur the Lame" or "Tamerlane".
