this instrument is called a sheng, a traditional chinese instrument. it consists of 21 reed pipes and a metal base. played by forcing air into the mouthpiece and covering holes on the pipes. there are multiple different types of sheng. traditional, the one im playing, key, alto and base. i play the key sheng too. ive played this instrument for about 7 years, and i learned to play it at FYCO, or firebird youth chinese orchestra, an orginization that teaches people to play instruments like this. to find out more, go to
