I just want human rights to be respected i'm not interested in whether or not tibet because independent, I am also aware that slavery did exist in Tibet at one point which the chinese abolished

How can Chinese be foreignes of Tibet. Tibet has been in part of China at least 600 years already. Look the global map published by US in 1930s, 1940s, which are well before Red China, Tibet is always labeled as a part of China.
Before Red China, Tibet is in slavery. Besides being a monk, Dalai is also the biggest slave master. So here the struggle in Tibet is not about religious freedom, but about someone's ambition to restore his lost power.

China did free Tibetan from Slavery, which Dalai benefited from，in 1951.
