If God wants every men to be saved,i think he failed in the passed(ironic mode on). If God really want every men to be saved, why he just saved Noah and his family, and didn't saved the rest of that generation?? God is the one who saves, and salvation belongs to him only. If someone thiks that God wants saves all men, then the will of men is stronger than God's will, because there're so many going to hell, and a lot who is already there.

Dances around the question.

I think RC answer is wanting, it puts at odds God's desire/emotions from his justice/righteousness. God doesn't delight in his justice? he grieves over his right actions?

@satori137 The answer is that the atoning work of Christ is for ALL people. The doctrine of limited atonement is a blasphemous lie. After all, how can it be just for God to condemn someone to everlasting torment whose fate has been decided at the moment of their conception (and there is nothing that person can do to change it)? No one decided to be born in sin. Read Isaiah 5 verses 3-4, which proves that God's grace is not mechanical and automatic but it can be resisted.

God means what He says. If He desires all people to be saved, then it follows that He does all He can to offer them the chance to be saved. Try reading Isaiah 5 verses 1-4. God passes over nobody. Anyone who is finally damned has resisted the will of God, as John 3 verses 19-21 makes clear. That is why Jesus wept over Jerusalem: "You are NOT WILLING to come to me that you may have life". Ignore Sproul's acrobatics and start believing the Bible.

God doesn't have to overlook some sinners and let some of them go to hell, just to demonstrate his justice. He has already demonstrated his justice in the death of Christ. Furthermore, I believe it is quite the stretch to avoid a natural reading of 1 Timothy 2:4 & 2 Peter 3:9. They are just too straightforward. Fitting them into Calvinism is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I respect Sproul's efforts to show the mercy of God in his reformed position, but I believe its untenable.

@RobertMOdell nicely said. R.C Sproul gave a long and ambiguos answer. Just tell them what you believe R.C, don't be ashamed! "Does God desire ALL men to be saved?" "No, unless us Calvinists who can trully understand His SOVEREIGNTY."
That is not a great answer, Mr. Driscoll. It leaves open this pressing question: If God is so grieved about having to send people to hell, then why does he make a sacrifice that provides expiation for some and not for others? Doesn't that imply that he has no regard for the non-elect, the ones who do not get the provision for their sins, as opposed to the elect?
