This is a variant of a grasshopper escapement driven by a set of organic gears. Just another experiment resulting in this prototype. Only one gear is driven by a pulley. On both gears are wooden pins located as opposite triangles.
The left/driven gear pulses with constant force against the left escapement arm, the right one pulses with variable force to the
right arm because of the power transfer from the left to the right gear. And again this only affects the swing of the penudulum just a
litte bit.

  • Please could you also mail the template to me . I would love to try and build it into one of my water powered clocks...Cheers

  • @NigelLoller Ok nice idea, I will send you the templates. Keep me informed on your creation!

  • That realy neat!! I would like to build that. Can you help me with a pattern ?

  • @DRJConst The gears are made with a templategenerator available on gearotic.com. You can also apply some normal gears. I will mail you a scan of the escapementtemplate. You can use that as a template for exact measurements/scaling and sketch your own design over it. Post the video when you made one :) ! have fun.
