Is "PURE O" a form of OCD or another form of anxiety symptom? What are these aggressive, sexual and violent thoughts? How are they formed? What can you do about them? PURE O is often thought to be a form of OCD but Charles Linden explains why it is so different and what to do about it.

To put it succinctly, I suffer from obtrusive thoughts which concern absurd notions (for example, I worry that I might be living in some sort of unreal world that I can never escape), which generates an unbelievable level of anxiety. I also worry about stabbing myself or leaping to my death from the top of a tall edifice (I can no longer stand by a ledge). And, addtionally, I feel cut off from myself, like I am some sort of personality-less entity.
I disagree that the subconscious rumination is 'aimed at' anything though, I just think it is simply another extension of 'what if' safety seeking' behaviours typical of all anxiety sufferers; it serves no purpose UNLESS a REAL threat is present and it addresses those directly in the flight or fight response.
Pure O sufferers PLEASE READ! I don't agree with the emphasis on the distinction between Pure O and OCD. You say that Pure O is not a type of OCD because there are no physical displays of compulsive behaviour. But compulsions can be performed cognitively! Constant rumination is a cognitive compulsion aimed at neutralising inappropriate / irrational obsessions. E.g., going through every minute detail of a past experience is a cognitive 'checking' behaviour to reduce anxiety about the experience.
Whilst I agree with your explanation from a psychological perspective 100%, my video was created to fall in line with the common definitions of OCD and Pure O which say that the difference is distinguished by the absence in PHYSICAL compulsions.
Thank Charles for this video I really thought I was going crazy an I thought I was the only one having these problems. Now I just need to learn how to control my anxiety.
Your preset levels of morality and spirituality should suffice! We are trying to remove INAPPROPRIATE anxiety NOT your appropriate emotions and reactions. Removing your inappropriate anxiety will simply return you to your 'birth preset'. Charles
