Uhhhh...the radio is under the hood...he was fixing the car because it wasn't starting...the voice is obviously a radio announcer who said this is "KPOC the last station"...maybe you just need to watch it agin and turn up the volume. In terms of the Depth of Field in the car ;) unless you mean something else by DOF

BTW, the girl switched hands with the mallet, not that anyone would notice. My last complaint, this was a very claustrophobic segment... can I get a wide shot... high shot... shoot maybe even a far shot.  Anyway, hopefully the last part of episode 1 can redeem itself for the entire episode. I did like the "burry your pole in her" line.

So after the montage, I was looking forward to this one... but it's just dull. I think you overdid the DOF in the car. I was extremely confused about what he was working on under the hood, plus when Matt reached for the radio, it seems as if the radio is under the hood too. AND IT WAS WAAAY confusing when the person on the radio started talking. I thought it was a bad edit as I thought that was Ozzie talking. I had to wait for Matt to say his lines to realize what was happening.
