Second song of Christmas and the Beads of Sweat. This was the second single.

You took my heart - misery - you taught me blues;
Well, I got a lot of patience, baby... that's a lot of patience to lose!
Im crying...
Im mad at my country, now I've been treated bad;
When I was a Freeport, and you were the main drag....

Broken blues - I just don't know;
Little bird flying by my window, take me when you go!
I'm crying...
I'm looking at these times, and it's bound to drive me mad...
When I was a Freeport, and you were the main drag....

What did I do? Everybody's putting me down;
I keep running, but the law kept coming around, yeah...

So fare thee well, happiness, cause I've got blues,
Oh, and I got a lot of patience, baby, that's a lot of patience to lose!
I'm a woman... waiting for due time, now I've been treated bad,
When I was a Freeport, and you were the main - ooh! - drag!

  • @SmartyLion I absolutely love every word you wrote - you took the words right out of my brain! I want to go back in time and THROTTLE the FM DJs and programmers for ignoring this MASTERPIECE. If ever a song deserved heavy rotation, this is it!

  • I heard "Christmas and the Beads of Sweat" in late 1970 and thought that I would never hear anything more wonderful. I* was right. I haven't since. The best collection of music I have ever heard. I hear the songs in my sleep.
