Korean Air Flight 801 (KE801, KAL801) crashed on August 6, 1997, on approach to Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport, Guam (a United States insular area).

Flight 801 was normally flown by an Airbus A300; since Korean Air had scheduled the August 5--6 flight to transport Guamanian athletes to the South Pacific Mini Games in American Samoa, the airline designated HL7468, a Boeing 747-300 delivered to Korean Air on December 12, 1984, to fly the route that night. The aircraft crashed on Nimitz Hill in Asan, Guam.

  • @dabois85 Not even 500ft AGL. Just looked at the plates for that airport. Even if they have the last vor-dme fix, the decision height is still 682 AGL, wayyyy higher than 200. So sad that many people

  • I love this show but the ATC calls are NOT realistic at all...

  • Sad way to die

  • my gosh, this has to be one of the most horrifying episodes...in most of them at least the people die instantly on impact, but here a lot of them survived the impact and were burned alive when the plane caught on fire...just awful, what a horrible way to die.

  • why are all there seatbelts off???

  • How about giving the pilots a heads-up display showing their course on a background of the terrain and the runway, in addition to a vertical representation?

Is this asking too much considerating today's GPS and Google Earth technology?

  • @normanjtongmd Are you kidding?

  • for 50 years there has been peace here NOT ANY MORE BITCH *747 engine roars* BOOM!

  • @TheUnknownStasher Well...that did end up being the case.

  • the f/o is very cute :3
