Grammar Spice celebrates Shakespeare's birthday with an original poem:

To the Poet on His Birthday

Here's to you, our Poet Will,
A tribute on your natal day:
A greeting like a daffodil!

A golden gift, a nosegay,
Is my narcissistic gift to you
My gift can thank, but not repay

For inspiration, verses true
In sonnet form, or in a play,
The words that from your genius grew.

Each time I read, your works renew
My spirit and my wondering mind.
I never tire of hearing you
Speak out to me across all time.

*The verse form is terza rima.
*The engraving of Shakespeare by Martin Droeshout is the frontispiece of the First Folio published in 1623.
*The setting is my garden.

  • Nice work Jeannie7602... You must have quite a bard-aceous collection of Will Stuff! And like you,Grammar Spice is also a rock star by night....GS

  • Quite concise, yet elegant! Brevity, as we know, is the soul of wit. Thanks for celebrating the day with a poem.
