Many people consider the Porsche 911 the benchmark against which all other sports cars are measured. But its rivals are no longer limited to cars from Italy. The Japanese have also shown they can build good sports cars. The latest example comes from Nissan, the 370Z. Drive it compares the newcomer with Porsche's latest 911 Carrera.

present it: The next generation Audi A8Audi has unveiled the third generation of its A8 flagship luxury sedan. The all-aluminum car is bigger than ever before, but also lighter and has all-wheel drive as standard equipment with all available engines. The interior has been made even more luxurious to suggest hand-made quality. Drive it tested the new A8 with a 250-hp 3.0 TDI.

examine it: Halogen vs. Xenon Seeing and being seen are indispensible parts of automotive safety. Xenon headlight systems are becoming available as optional equipment on a growing number of cars. But Xenon lights are also significantly more expensive than conventional halogen lights. Drive it wanted to know whether the extra investment is worth it. A side-by-side test of various models with both kinds of lights.

compare it: Porsche 911 Carrera S and Nissan 370 Z Drive it looks at two sports cars coveted by performance enthusiasts around the world. Both are rear-wheel driven and have almost the same engine displacement - 3.7 liters with the Nissan compared to 3.8 liters in the Porsche. But the Porsche, with its timeless sleek lines, produces a whopping 385 hp. The more futuristic Nissan gets by with just 328 hp. And which is the better sports car? drive it finds out.

Test it! Mini One D Small and agile, fast and sporty is what Minis are built to be. Until now, no-one paid much attention to their fuel consumption, but a new model of the retro compact is now available with a thrifty diesel engine. The Mini One D is powered by a 1.4 liter Common-Rail-Turbo diesel borrowed from the Toyota Yaris. With its 90-hp engine, the little car does zero to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds. Top speed is 182 km/h. Prices for the Mini One D start 18,100 Euros in Germany.
