  • uphazed123, are the Ten Commandments the thing stopping you? See Galatians 5:22...

  • 1 Timothy 1 clearly states that the law is good if we use it properly. It goes on to say that the law is not made for the righteous (Christians) but for the unrighteous (nonbelievers). The law is still around, but Scripture says we are dead to the law, not under the law, and Christ is the end of the law for us who believe.

  • Yes, one good example would be the Jewish Sabbath - one of the Ten Commandments. Anyone who does Saturday yard work or Friday night emails disobeys the Sabbath - one of the Ten. 2 Corinthians 3:6-11 describes the Ten Commandments (the only part of the law "engraved in letters on stone") as a "ministry of death" and a "ministry of condemnation." Jesus is enough - not just for Heaven, but for our character, behavior and attitudes right now. Jesus plus nothing, APF

  • 1) We Christians died to the Law. (Romans 7:4; Galatians 2:19)

    2) We Christians are not under the Law. (Galatians 5:18; Romans 6:14)

    3) We Christians are not supervised by the Law. (Galatians 3:25)

    4) We Christians are not perfected by the Law. (Galatians 3:2-3)

    5) We Christians shouldn’t even live by rules. (Colossians 2:20-23)

  • because the ten doesnt apply to christians, does this mean i can kill someone in self-defense? as long as christ is with me i am already forgiven?

  • Better than Christians fighting to install the 10 Commandments in schools and courthouses, would be Christians fighting to proclaim the grace of God through Jesus Christ. Let's fight to proclaim Him in schools, courts and, yes, Congress (where He's needed more than ever).

  • sorry you are wrong the law is still aplices to us when jesus said he fullfill the law he mean he fullfill the law by love when you love people you fullfill the law roman13-8 to roman14-10 love does no evil to the neighor hence love is the fullfillment of the law

  • @jesuzbro AMEN! "The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through faith" (Gal 3:24). The good news is that Christ has come. Christians are not under law but under grace (Gal 6:14) Ask yourself is his man teaching law or grace? For either Christ must remain, and the Law perish, or the Law must remain, and Christ perish; for Christ and the Law can by no means agree and reign together in the conscience." Luther Commentary on Galatians.

  • There are 3 types of law. Law to the Jews, Law of Consciousness to the Gentiles, Law of Christ(Love) to Christian. The 1st 2 laws are based on self-doing, but the 3rd law based on God's love and grace empower us to fulfill the law. So, the law of Christ came with grace and perfected by grace.

  • I used to be married to the 10 commandments, but now I'm married to another.

    J E S U S

(lets not go back under law ye double minded adulterers!)

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. [Romans 7:3-5 (in Context)]

  • As Christians we neither KEEP nor BREAK the 10 Commandments, they simply belong to another religion just like the The Code of Hammurabi is a set of legal codes written to govern an entire nation. Good ideas? You bet, none better! Obligation for the Christian, no just excellent reference material to better understand the New Testament!

  • The law was a ministry of death and condemnation to the flesh--but not to Jesus who was led of the Spirit to not break the 10 commandments. And we are His. Jesus is perfect theology. Thanks for showing me that verse! In Romans 8:10-11 we see that the ministry of death did its job--the flesh is dead! Romans 8:3 is what I'm saying! "the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit." Btw I observe the Sabbath.
