@Bluvenus a vote for a candidate who will surely lose is a wasted vote. If, for example, one of two candidates will win (like with the 2012 US presidential election), then voting for someone else is a waste and potentially damaging because it allows a worse vote to count. A vote either cancels out an opposing vote, or it works positively. The 2000 US presidential race is a good example: Nader had the best views, but he couldnt possibly win, so voting for him enabled the Bush 'win'

@Bluvenus........Absolutely!

@journeyer58 ... there must come a day when the people elect a third party president ... that could be possible in 2012! Especially if Bernie Sanders were running as an independent third party. With all the buzz about Bernie going on and most all of the OWS movement screaming for more choices on the ballots ... people are "beginning" to wake up! Sick and tired of only lesser evil choices ... Bernie CAN win!!
Bernie for President 2012!!

@Bluvenus As the great Swami Beyondananda spoke, these precious words, We in America have a problem with electile dysfunction. Nothing can save this country but a complete change of hearts and minds. We the people, need to start backing a third party candidate. Nothing can save this country from the corrupt and vile system that is democracy. We need a NEW way of voting, a new of way of drafting those who should serve as President. Rather than the system in place we are in need of cultural shift.

@tobynsaunders Your kind of talk is EXACTLY the reason why our election system is so screwed up!! I have not voted for either Democrat or Republican in my entire life (48 yrs). The fact is ... those of us who vote for a third party would not vote AT ALL if we did not vote for our chosen candidate, so that means that my vote for a third party IS NOT a vote for a Repug, IT IS A VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE I VOTED FOR!!! Get it??? Hope so ...

@bungerman1000 Is that saying "it's the lesser of 2 weasels? Because either way, Dem or Repug, we are eaten by a system so corrupt and overgrown with hypocrisy that the people are the one's who get it in the end?
I'm sure of one thing though, it's hardly worth it to vote, I cannot for the life of me remember when since Jimmy Carter, there's been anyone to vote for. And Carter wasn't that spectacular either. Certainly there must come a day when the people elect a third party president.

We will not be supporting Obama again because of the never ending wars, debt deal, the health care fiasco behind closed doors, his justice dept going after folks who smoke pot for medical reasons, and now this super committee bad deal. Please run for President Bernie.
