Honestly, I believe 1 of 2 things are going on when it comes to Shakespeare...

Either...

1) Shakespeare was the pseudonym of certain male writer that we all study the works of today.

OR

2) Shakespeare was a woman who chose to keep her true identity private.

@madeyes4u not sure whether your post was intended as humour or not - I'llassume not - but there are some parties who believe Shakesepare was written by a woman - and even the suggestion Elizabeth 1st may have written some of the plays - she did go to Cambridge. The body of literature is very limite though - but if you have some furtehr insights - always happy to listen to them....

William Shakespeare was and still is in my mind a creative genius. To scandalize his great talent and reputation is downright libel.

I have created songs and stories and have had others question the veracity of my authorship and I found that most degrading and humiliating The fact that Shakespeare was a celebrated thespian, actor and one of the world's greatest poets, along with being a great songwriter, comedy writer, dramatist and director should be lauded not refuted.

@amaliaonTV The works are absolutely fabulous - that is beyond question. But there are many instances of where people have "fronted" authorship. Perhaps the key contemporary one relates to the film Roman Holiday - which won a number of oscars. Officially written (and oscar awarded) to Iam Maclellan Hunter - actually written by Dalton Trumbo who was blacklisted as a result of Macarthayism. If Hunter hadn't confessed after Trumbo's death no-one would have been any wiser.........

To carry the logic forward, I propose that Gore Vidal did not write the works ascribed to him because, like Shakespeare, he did not go to college. Like Shakespeare, he did go to an excellent high school, but no one without a college diploma could possibly have written "Burr," "Myra Breckinridge" or "Lincoln." So the question inevitably arises: who really wrote Vidal?

Some people say that the plays written were that of some member of hierarchy and had a lowly illiterate grain merchant (Shakespeare) to sign his name on the writings because it wasn't proper for a member of high status to wright.
