This handmade poplar wood dugout canoe was made by members of the Stafford County Virginia Patawomeck Tribe. This, it's first use, was on June 17th in the Rappahannock River at Fredericksburg Virginia. In all probability this is the first time in near 300 years that a Native paddler took to the Rappahannock in a dugout canoe.
