In the 44th episode of Pensado's Place, Dave and Herb are joined by Author, Producer, Musician, and Tech Advisor Bobby Owsinski! Bobby has written some of the most well known books about engineering including "The Recording Engineer's Handbook", "The Mixing Engineer's Handbook" (which features Dave Pensado!), and "Music 3.0".

The trio discuss how engineers should be using social media and new technology to increase their business, Bobby's tips on 5.1 mixing, and the future of the recording industry.

  • This guy should have been on This Week in Music. This was a little uncomfortable to watch, not much of a flow. I come here to watch Dave talk about Recording Music not sell it.

  • I am new to these video links which I found through Business Links.

As a little known composer / engineer in the UK, all this information is invaluable.

I've come away from watching the link with a deeper knowledge of 3.1 and fresh new ideas as to a future strategy. For me Soundcloud has been a great cork board for promoting material and collaborating with other musicians but not the best format for networking with TV / film professionals.

  • screw what all those other commenters are saying, I ABSOLUTELY find this information utterly valuable, and I guess many of these complainers can't see just HOW IMPORTANT marketing and all this stuff is to every mixer/engineer/musician. This is amazingly solid advice and information! Absolutely important for someone working in this field, in this day and age.

Many thumbs up, guys. (wish I had more than 2 hands)

  • just wanna big up Bobby's blog bobbyowsinski.blogspot dot com

    very entertaining reading in there

  • @xHeadcleanerx

Thankyou. I had a listen, and I can see why the material was challenging for a mixer to get their head around.

  • @JamieJetsonTV Amon Tobin

  • Did anyone catch the name of the electronic artist that Bobby mentioned as his challenging mixing project?

  • Why you called Bobby Owsinski and talked about internet , marketing and site design? LOL Dave , we love your show , but please , stick to the sound please :) We love you Dave

  • Don't get me wrong...I appreciated this episode and the information imparted, but I can't believe how little was said about mixing considering the guest authored The Mix Engineer's Handbook. More talk about actual mixing please! Love you guys!

  • dammit. I wanted to know about Elton John's piano recording technique. I could care less about the gimicky "segment" ... jeez. Great show, but ... damn ...
