The BMD-4 vehicle is equipped with a new universal
fighting compartment installed on the modified BMD-3
vehicle chassis.
The BMD-4 vehicle armament system comprises a
100mm gun-launcher with an autoloader of guided and
unguided HEF artillery projectiles, a 30mm automatic
gun firing HEFI, APT and APDS projectiles, a 7.62mm
machine gun and a modern fire control system with
gunner's integrated day/night sight, commander's
panoramic TV sight, digital computer, tracker and
means to automatically prepare data for firing at unobserved
targets.
The BMD-4 vehicle armament ensures stationary,
mobile and afloat fire and defeat of modern tanks at a
range of up to 5,500 m, unsheltered and entrenched
manpower and fortifications at a range of up to 7,000
m, including unobserved, antiarmor-capable and other
pinpoint targets as well as aircraft and helicopters at a
range of up to 4,000 m.

that's a vehicle for airborne troops=need for high speed+high fire power,tipically their missions are behind enemy lines.BMD-4 it's perfect for that,there is nothing similar to it in any western army

@PvtRyanNsk because more and more facts coming up about american equipment like F22,F35,FA18,Bradley and more stuff like that,F22 was canceled because it cant fly in rainy weather,when it gets wet it lose stealth characteristics or when it open weaponary chamber stealth gone.Its not armored you can destroy it with .50 cal its less maneuvrable than F16, it cant beat even old Su27.And bradley for example is weak protected,alluminium alloy was destroyed 2 times only with molotov cocktails.

@Lunchbox94 bmp and bmd are in services at the same time. One is for the airborne troop and the other is for the general ground forces. They differ in their internal arrangement too. BMD actually has the engine in the back while the bmp has it in the front.

LOL at people who say BMD isn't "protected." How well is *your body* protected? Don't these people get that, without a BMD vehicle, airborne troops are *on foot.* This always ends badly, just look at Vietnam era helicopter assaults, where foot soldiers got shot to pieces cause they didn't have any vehicles with them. Air cavalry trades protection for airmobility and firepower.
