Apparently, the Super Sonic video for Sonic Riders (and its sequel--but I'll get to that later) have been very popular, and a new frequently asked question has popped up as of late: How do you unlock Super Sonic? This video is part of a series that will show the Gold rank for every mission in the game.

This video will cover Egg Factory, a scalding hot robot assembly plant run by Dr. Eggman. Apparently, he lets people race around in it as part of the World Grand Prix (and, oddly, is sometimes part of the race itself). Egg Factory is a pretty long place packed with stuff, so the missions here can be harder than those before (and some after) if you don't know where secrets lie.

The first mission, as usual, is based on tricks. Amy goes around accumulating points by doing tricks. Get 14 points to pass the mission or 30 points to get the Gold rank. Don't forget the halfpipes after the lava fall!
For those of you just tuning in, this is the point distribution for tricks based on rank:
C - 0 pts
B - 1 pt
A - 2 pts
AA - 4 pts
S - 6 pts
SS - 8 pts
X - 10 pts

Mission 2 is collecting Machine Parts. The drill here is to get 6 pieces to clear the mission, 10 pieces for Silver, and 12 pieces for Gold. Egg Factory was designed with Power characters in mind, so they won't put anything THAT out of the way in this mission.
1. To the left after the first jump.
2. At the second jump, trick into the flight hoops. This is on the second one in the chain.
3. Right in the middle of the course when you land.
4. Right before the third jump.
5. Hold down when tricking off the third jump to do a long trick and reach the upper path. This one is to the right, during the turn. It may be tricky because there are dash panels right before it that will launch Tails beyond the Machine Part.
6. After the fan, there is a flight ramp to the right of the main path.
7. On the second flight hoop after the flight ramp with the sixth part.
8. On the inside of the hairpin turn after the lava fall. Slow Tails down to line him up more accurately.
9. In the middle of the path leaing up to the spinning mechanism.
10. Against the right wall next to the spinning mechanism.
11. Right before the zipline near the end.
12. On the inside of the hairpin turn right before the start/finish line.
You'll see that two of them are right by the end. Don't just restart because you think you missed one or two. Well, until you watch this video, and then you'll know exactly where they are.

Mission 3 puts a bunch of robots roaming around the stage and asks you to finish in 1 minute 5 seconds. Do this to pass the mission, or finish in under 53 seconds for the Gold. (That means you need to have 12 seconds or more left on the countdown at the end.) There are grind rails placed around this course that will really help with evading those robots.

Mission 4 is another one of those missions where Knuckles has to punch out a bunch of stuff. Robots, in this case. Unlike in Metal City, where they're neatly lined up or moving about in unlimited numbers, there is a fixed amount in this mission. Destroy 9 robots to pass, 12 robots for Silver, and all 15 robots for Gold. (There are only 15 robots present, so you have to find them all for the Gold rank.) This one trips up a lot of people because there's a shortcut here that's difficult to find: Near the end, where there's that spinning thing with the pods, look for a part of the wall with a broken warning sign. Knuckles can break through that wall for a shortcut. There are 5 robots in this path; if you don't find this shortcut, Bronze is the best you can do.

The last mission is a repeat performance as Knuckles, where he has to chase down a robot and destroy it. This robot is somewhat faster than the car, or perhaps there are just more turns where Knuckles has to slow down. Either way, he won't have enough boost simply doing tricks to catch up to the robot. Knuckles has to also destroy the barrels to get more Air. You'll get Gold if you can punch out that robot within 22 seconds--basically, before the robot reaches the giant fan. (Why do they have you play the lap to the end? It's tedious.)

  • Mr.Awesome: So, how do you access the missons?

  • @MrAwesomenMario360 From the main menu. There should be a menu item called "Missions."

  • Seriously, I've ever wondered if the creators of the Sonic Riders series are/were fans of the Paper Mario series. I mean, there are similarities between the storylines of both series (excluding Sonic Free Riders and Paper Mario 64, of course). The first Sonic Riders' storyline is awfully similar to that of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (not in the details, though), and Zero Gravity mentions "the worlds" just like Super Paper Mario (and there's even a black hole in both games).

  • @TheGatitaCosmica The Paper Mario games have story and dialogue that are way better done than in Sonic Riders though.
