man this is sooo funny...you can tell he looks bad then too. pretty gaunt and literally looked like he was smoking crack. he was such a beast, RIP. its gonna be mitch hedberg quote day at work tomorrow now.

My eyes are full of tears, as I just learned that "my boyfriend", passed away in 2005. I feel as if he died today, oh how sad. Mitch, I hope you are resting in everlasting peace. I'll love you forever !

@SteevDragon67 This was during the time Dave had, what, quadruple (maybe quintuple) by-pass surgery? Lots of different guest hosts... though if you're inferring that you don't get why Elvis Costello would be a guest host, I can't quite answer that, heh.

Such a wonderful man. The world is worse off whenever humor of his caliber dies. The strength of character it took for him to do comedy and face his fear, that is the power of human will. Agree with him, like him, or not, it is pretty amazing that he could face whatever fears just for the sake of comedy.

@aymeedizzle "Because he suffered from stage fright, Hedberg often performed wearing sunglasses, with his head down, with his hair in his face or with his eyes closed in order to avoid eye contact with the audience. He would often stand upstage or perform with his back to the audience. He would also constantly move in one spot and, when holding the microphone during some bits, his nervousness would cause him to shake it uncontrollably." Matt Gonzalez.
