Founded in 1988, the San Jose Giants play in the Single-A California League and are an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Home games are played at San Jose Municipal Stadium.
San Jose Giants developed more than 115 major league players. These include Buster Posey, Tim Lincecum, Jonathan Sanchez, Matt Cain, Noah Lowry, Russ Ortiz, Bill Mueller, Doug Mirabelli, Rod Beck, Joe Nathan, Francisco Liriano, Shawn Estes, Emmanuel Burriss, Andrés Torres and Pablo Sandoval.
Games at Municipal Stadium, built in 1942, are rooted in the classic traditions of baseball. Fans sit close to the field, general admission seating is available for games and players sign autographs before every game. Many fans are drawn for a cheaper alternative to the regions two Major League teams.
This film looks at the team and its fans as the 2011 season began.
