This Excel Video Tutorial teaches you how to Filter data sets in Excel 2007. You will learn how to use the new filter features in Excel. This allows you to refine data in Excel so that you only see what you need to see. Basically, it allows you to drill down through large data sets in order to display only a subset of that data so that you can more clearly find and analyze only the most important information.

This tutorial teaches you how to filter based on only one criteria and how to filter based on multiple separate criteria all at the same time. This is a great tutorial for anyone who often works with large data sets in Excel.

For Excel consulting, classes, or to get the spreadsheet or macro used here visit the website http://www.TeachExcel.com There, you can also get more free Excel video tutorials, macros, tips, and a forum for Excel.

Have a great day!

  • Hi, good video, please tell me how can I get from a large file of numbers, filter one number for example and check the next line, and know also the average how many times one name or number come after the name or number I plug in. thank you.

  • @37no37 This depends on how your data is setup and how you want it to look. Private message me with your details.

  • Hi, it is hard to explain but I will try my best with my English.I have a in the first column numbers starting with 416XXXXX (41614295, 41694522..etc) and second column numbers starting with 216XXXXX (21642584, 21659980 ... etc)

Each 416XXXXX has it own group numbers of 216XXXXX. I can filter 416XXXXX numbers to give me 216 numbers with no problem. BUT some 416 numbers have other 416 numbers as nested. How can I find 216 numbers from the nested once, it goes for 3 levels sometimes.

  • This is very time consuming when the data is large. 10,000 rows of data is really small - just to give you an example - not that you are using 10,000 rows. When we work with really large data - for example 500,000 rows (and yes in Excel 2007 there is not the 65K limit on total rows) then doing this will either take a long time or your PC will crash..This is not good for large data. But overall a good video for the Filter novice in Excel.
