Pi - Joom belongs to the family of free-reed instrument. The reed of the pi-joom is similar to that of the harmonica. The name " joom " means " a set " This is because many sizes of pi are played together as a set. The modern pi-joom ensenble has 3 -4 different sizes of pi. On this recording, we have recreated the traditional 5 pi ensemble of 50 years ago, using instruments custom made by Por Thip, the great instrument maker of Chiang Mai.
