WD-40 is NOT for oiling! :)

Hey man, perhaps I have a solution for this "yellowed printer". Search for "Retr0bright", and You'll be surprised! :D. It works for me.

WD-40 is not a lubricant. It's a water displacer.
I'd try a silicone spray, maybe a teflon lube, or if the manual says to, use 3-in-1 oil. (The trick with both WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil is that they can attract dust, causing wear or making things worse.)

Actually many companies sell reproduction cartridges that work just fine with dot matrix printers. One of them supplies for my 1933 typewriter. Im sure theirs some way to buy ribbons.
Can you get ink ribbons for it?

I'm not really using it, so I haven't tried since the machine went out of use 20 years ago or so.

It was white, yes? (under the lid) Love the scanner done by the roller with a track in it... no stepper motor needed!

Any part that is yellow today, was previously white. As for the rest, it looked the same (give or take some dust) ;)

will it work on a modern computer?

It has an RS-232 input, so I suppose you could get it to work with a PC (that is, one that has a COM port). The question is, why bother? ;)
