Carson Chandler Brooks: 1991-2010.

Carson was a fun-loving, talkative, kind and compassionate Christ-follower with a heart for others. Although he always made sure to put on a smile for his friends and those in need, Carson struggled with an illness known as manic-depression, or more commonly referred to as Bipolar Disorder. Carson battled this condition most of his short life -- he fought the good fight. But, it became too much for him to bear. He ended his struggle on July 12th, 2010 at 18 years old.
For the thousands that have been so gracious with their comments about Carson on Facebook, there is now an unlikely face for each to relate to Bipolar Disorder. Thus a dilema for many. Bipolar Disorder is not reserved for any certain group of people.
No matter the care of the primary care physician, the Psychologist's or licensed counselor's attention, the Psychiatrist's oversight to manage necessary medicines, the teachers' awareness, the fervent prayer of the many, the unconditional love of a mother, father and family, none of these guarantee...well none of it guarantees anything.
So, should we not even attempt to comfort the afflicted with Bipolar Disorder? No, they cry out for our help, though a silent cry of sorts.
Ah, but God the creator knows their pain, and he is ever-present in their time of trouble. "The Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are saved." And, thus, we have another dilema. If Jesus Christ is the Hope to help the bipolar disabled cope, then we in the church must make ourselves ready to be used by Him to teach those in need how to cope with this overwhelming burden.
As Carson's family, we wish to tell of Carson's faith, love and sense of humor. We also desire to shine a bright light on the false and dark stigma unfortunately aligned with this illness. Our mission will be to seek out existing experts and organizations in the field of Bipolar Disorder. We will remain transparent in our sharing of Carson's struggle, and we will have no regrets looking forward.
It is our hope that these four short videos, captured during the July 18th, 2010 Celebrating Carson Memorial Service at Fellowship Church in Grapevine, will reveal our transparency and the grace that God provided us the week of his death, as we began our journey of sharing the true story of "Not a Day Promised".
This is part 4 of 4 of Carson's Memorial service. Links to the next part are provided at the end of the clip.
