This video highlights what is spoken about when we talk about the capital structure of a company - effectively the structure of that company's financing, which is very tied to the right side of that company's balance sheet - for the book values, as well as the market values of the items on the right side of the balance sheet.

  • That type of thing is done for young athletes sometimes where for example a young promising tennis player needs funding - the times I have heard of it, it has been done on an informal basis. For investors of course, the key is to buy a share in something that has value and where the expected return reflects the probably very high level of risk. Otherwise it is charity - and that's ok too.

  • I have an idea. I'm a singer, dancer, actor, fashion designer. I don't have a name.

actor/singer: I was thinking of offering a share in "me" to investors. they would own a piece of my name and as i got bigger, they could share.

designer: i was thinking of starting a design house [with objective to be the first american couturier] and investors would share in the design house profits.

what you think of this, i've never heard of it before.
