Kao "for groundbreaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibers for optical communication" and the other half jointly to Willard S. Boyle and George E.   • @98wongjf Charles Kao once said in an RTHK documentary that his Chineseness had got nothing to do with his talents and inventions; that he didn't do it because he was a Chinese; and that he didn't do it for the Chinese but rather he did it for the entire world and for humanity.

  • Charles Kao, or to use his current and formal title, Sir Charles K Kao, KBE, is British & American Chinese.
