Another relic from a bygone era! This is a 1983 Radio Shack Chronofone ET-380 Cordless Phone/Clock Radio. This HAD to have been quite expensive back in 1983 as cordless phones were a luxury item back then. You were likely the cool kid on the block if you were lucky to have this baby on your nightstand back then! Radio Shack used to sell some pretty neat stuff, wish they still did. Enjoy!

  • The ground is used as part of the antenna. The base unit uses 1.690 to1.795 mhz. the handset uses 49 mhz.

The antennas for the FM radio and the base unit receive and transmit are connected to the building power lines. by the end of 1984 everything went to 46/49 mhz.

  • neat, I got one today. it's the same model but that one I got was made in 1984. The battery seems to be working but I haven't figured out how to make calls with it yet. Either I suck with phones (me, the computer whiz) or the receiver's just broken.

I hope it's just me who's a dummy because that thing looks pretty neat and I would love to use it as my home phone c:

  • Very sweet!
