He's only finger miming! Noticeable when he plays the solo, slightly out of sync.

Sore fingers! Any guitarist who doesn't use a plecyrum will tell you that your finger tips eventually become rock hard. I used to stub out cigarette ends on them without feeling any discomfort. Amp settings? I'd say 13 amp.
