Wow, Why so many mistakes from different sources????...!!!
Thank you for your video! I appriciate it.

Weren't these the same pilots that boarded the wrong plane at the airport before boarding this one and making this fatal mistake?

@mchmt55116 : Understand how you feel...I'm a former gate agent with Comair. Although I didn't work there at the time, 5191 was a full flight. Your father was late to get on the flight, but someone took his place. More than likely a standbye passenger. It was a horrible accident. My heart goes out to everyone who lost their lives. This will be the 5 yr anniversary, of that flight, I just hope they remember the families and crew that lost their lives!

How can the pilot be that stupid to take off on the wrong runway that's unlit?

my friends dad was on the plane. R.I.P

The single air traffic controller was doing "administrative duties," i.e., paperwork at the time of the crash. He didn't even bother to look up to see if the aircraft was on the right runway. Also, how did the pilots initially get on the wrong plane! To save, money the airport was woefully understaffed. I think the pilots felt that the running of the airport was so slipshod that the fact that the lights were not turned on at the runway was par for the course that morning.

@cbreitel There were plenty of signs that things where not right, for example the cockpit voice recorders showed that the pilots noticed that the lights on the runway they were on where not turned on but the lights on the cross runway were turned on, that should have been more then enough of a clue to them that maybe maybe they made a mistake. This is not all the FAAs fault

I remeber th day this happened. :( One of my friends Uncles was killed in the crash.

A "rampworker" has to tell the pilots which plane to get on?? What is this flying business coming to?
my dad was almost on that plane.thank god he was late. i am so happy he was late, and yet sad for all of the people that died.

Wrong, plain and simple. It WAS the pilot's fault. If I remember correctly it was dark, and NO LIGHTS were on on the wrong runway they used. Read the CVR transcripts, these two were not payng attention at all. Glad the first officer lived, but he should never be aloud in an aircraft again.
