After finishing construction on a scratch built warhound titan and playing a Warhammer Apocalypse game, I decided to move onto an even larger project. A Reaver Titan. This is a larger project because I have absolutely no guides to build this one. The Warhound took about 25 hours to build over 5 days. Thus far I've spent about 6 hours on the Reaver Titan, hoping to finish everything minus LED lights for void shields and structure points in about 15 hours. I'm holding off on the LED lights because they effectively doubled the cost of building the Warhound Titan. In three months, if there's enough interest, I may build a second Reaver Titan and do a more in-depth video on its creation.

  • the black 1 is rly cool, what material r u using?

  • Both Titans are made of Polystyrene (Styrofoam insulation).

  • well personally when people in our hobby shop set to make scratch built titans man we go through like every model there cut stuff outa sprews goin home getn supply's took us 6 months to find the parts to build a warlord titan looks pretty damn close to looking like it too after 6 months it better be huh lol..... but sereiosly man it was the funnest damn six months my friend bill his kid almost fell on it a and that was 3 months into it but still keep up the hard work go scratch building. WOOOOT

  • Thanks man, I couldn't agree more, although I only had a week to put together the warhound and 3 days for the Reaver, I had a BLAST doing it.

  • I guess you weren't really aiming for detail, more proxying. Good idea though, as not everyone can afford titans. It wouldn't actually bepainted in the Black Templars scheme, more a Titan Legion one, like Legio Warp Runners or Legio Metallica.

  • Totally correct. I'm a 60/40 want to play the game/critical on how the models look kind of 40K player. And for the Reaver, I set out to put it together in 3 days so I could play a larger Apocalypse game.

Realizing it wasn't a $500 forge world model, I took some artistic license with painting it up with Black Templar logos.

  • @theemporour yes you can use you scratch built Titan in a game, there is no rule that says it has to be official GW/FW piece. BUT, as of yet, I believe you can only use titans in games of apocalypse. MAYBE in games of grim bastion too, but no clue. Otherwise hell yeah make your own Titan and then go and smite your foes in glorious battle. THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!!!!

  • ... when you get down to it with Titans; Bigger is Better, and every titan scratch-built after the first is about a foot larger than the last, and 23% more complicated. Eventually, its on a 3x2 foot base, is 5-6 1/2 feet tall, and has internal lighting, as well as an army of Orcs running/climbing up it's legs...

  • I really love the idea about the lights to indicate void shields/structure points. Great idea!

  • No offence but the reaver/ warhound look a little, unprofesional isnt the word, but it is the closest thing I can think of. the main problem I have is that it seems a little 2d, just because the legs, body and head are pretty much made out of one piece, but thats just me. Congrats for having a good time though. Thats what it realy is about in the end. :)

  • haha your black titan looks like its smiling

i have made a warhound titan out of card and plastic and i was wondering if i would be allowed to use it in a game

  • dude i think its way better to scratch build these even if you do have the money for a FW titan...

i mean why would you want to have the same thing as everyone esle right?

    its just dumb!

so if you have money that just means you should be able to come up with an even more convicing titan. =D

and its just plain fun to build them ^_^
