W uses the WOT, which may be very real, to get away with stuff he never would have been able to if we'd not been hit on 9/11. BOR knows this, he just doesn't want to go down a road of giving credence to speculation, even if it sometimes deservers it, because he knows it sometimes deserves it, and if he acknowledges that, it will make holes in many of his past and future arguments.

Oh, I disagree. He is just a goober. My point was that when you have a govt. agency taping phones without warrents, even if they say it is just doing so with suspected terrorists, and even if it is, there is extra room for abuse that wasn't there before. How likely is it that no one is abusing it? Either way, W did this to expand executive power, nothing else, and that is what JE was talking about.
