stupid burning tires against the wall.

In 1982, the GPZ550 with its KZ based chassis with two shocks in the back was changed to a single shock swing arm and the looks of the GPZ550 went kind of weird to me with the front faring trying to follow the contour of the gas tank and the lateral. But was a departure for bikes with full faring like the Ninja 600R 1984 (another bike that I bought brand new at the dealership) and the worst bike I ever had.

When i turned 16 in 81 i got a brand new gpz550 off the showroom floor, it had 4 tenths of a mile on it. I was the king of the road in my little town for 2 years, got into all sorts of police trouble and could pull it up in first and not put it back down again untile i was in 6th. People still ask me about that bike. Thanks fo9r making this video, brings back great memorys.

This was one of the best bikes I had and miss (bought it brand new at the dealership). Should have kept it for posterity. The Kawasaki GPZ550 1981 was the first bike in the US market to come with a mini café-race faring and its red skin looked awesome. The Motorcyclist magazine in its February edition of 1981 (which I still keep) has a picture of the GPZ in the front cover saying: "HOT ROD HEART: 750´s Beware! Here comes the GPZ550".
I have a GPZ550 1981 and I would never treat her like this!Once again you see why when I 'or most other's ,are looking to purchase a used bike what will make-or-break the deal is rather the motorbike has been adult owned or not....This vid shows why!!!
