Liberals like Nancy Pelosi, Jimmy Carter, John Kerry and Dennis Kucinich actually deceived themselves into believing that Assad was a "would-be" Reformer who just never seems to get around to "reforming" anything. What you see in this video has been going on inside Syria for the past 41 years, and is not new, - It is just the intensity of the repression that has been increased due to the pro Democracy uprising. Every Syrian can tell you of friends, relatives and neighbors who have been arrested, tortured and often killed by the Assad regime. (We ourselves lost a cousin and an uncle to the monstrous alawite baath party Police State machinery) the Western Democracies need to take their lead on how to deal with Syria from more astute politicians like Senator Joe Lieberman and former white house advisor Elliot Abrams. These guys have never been suckered by the Dictator Eye Doctor of Damascus like the DC liberal crowd that even now cannot find the fortitude to tell Assad to "Step Down".
