Yesterday I took at ride on "Team Extreme" in Boston Harbor in preparation for Act 4 of the Extreme Sailing Series. I haven't been on a mutii-hull in a few years. What an absolute scream! Not much wind at all but we still moved along at a good clip. Check out the shot of RIB at 1:30 minutes into video planning along to keep up with us. I think we had just under 10 knots of breeze then.
The boat has a mixed crew of very experienced sailors. Team Extreme will have a different fourth crew member for each Act to introduce new sailors to the class in locations the circuit has not visited before. For Act 4 in Boston the fourth crew member will be our own Bob Merrick from Connecticut as the bowman. The skipper is Roland Gaebler from Germany. Gaebler has won over 50 international titles since 1981, including a Bronze Olympic medal. The tactician is Canada's Bruno Dubois, an experienced offshore sailor who has three round the world navigation and has crossed the Atlantic 15 times. Trimming is Sebbe Godefroid from Italy. Godefroid is four time Olympic sailor who brought home a silver medal from Atlanta in 1996.
I'm addicted to these mulit's now. I hope to catch a few more rides today on the 40's. Hopefully in more breeze so I can get a little wet. Stay tuned.
