Well you do understand that SMG, the first that is, was initially a test for the Wii's skills. They made the difficulty lower to appeal to a broader audience while still keeping a Mario feel, Don't forget, also, that Nintendo was trying to appease all of the complaints the fandom gave on Sunshine being "fun, but too hard".
