Transcript:
My name is Mike Stephens, and I am the Head of Intelligent Solutions for Atkins Asset Management. We manage large property estates for our customers, that could be down to a floor or room level right the way up to campus level, buildings and estates. So, that could range from a full heating system or a full air conditioning system right the way down to a physical light fitting on a floor within an office block. One of the ways that we think we offer a smart building proposition is remote technology, our Atkins remote technology that can monitor plants and equipment in remote buildings, and we can monitor that via the Web, and those monitors can send instructions to our Atkins Intelligence System, our Maximo system so that sometimes we can fix assets before the building occupier knows that there's a problem with those assets. So, Atkins are contributing to a Smarter Planet through smarter buildings, which effectively leads into smarter cities where we have some of our local authority and government organizations running those cities, which ultimately leads into smarter planets. We're integrating our enterprise asset management capability with IT assets and with energy assets and with capital assets, all leading to what should effectively be easier ways to manage estates, which feed into the management of smarter cities, which ultimately feeds into the management of smarter planets. What is smart to me is something that doesn't need too much thinking about. IBM offers us tools like Maximo to allow us to effectively create that innovation within our organization for other organizations. I think with IBM we're sharing a vision of a bigger picture where they can see the bigger picture, we can see the bigger picture interconnected. They're offering tools that are interconnected. ... With IBM we feel as though we've got that capability in everything that we need.
