People from all across the US provided buckets of hope to the people in Haiti. The buckets were plastic with lids so they could be used for storage and to transport water after the food was eaten. Groups, families, individuals and children packed the buckets with oil, flour, sugar, peanut butter, pasta, and beans. The bucket could then feed a Haitian family for a week. Haitian pastors distributed the buckets providing physical hope and spiritual hope by telling them about how Jesus Christ personally could provide hope to them!
God's timing is perfect. While people saw customs as a deterrent, some of the buckets were held up in customs for a long time. By the time they were released from the red tape, the food supplies from other sources had ceased!
