This 2002 documentary chronicles the life of Martin Luther, from his childhood, to his days as an ascetic Catholic monk, to his stance as the voice of reform from within (and, finally, from without) the Catholic Church.

  • Good point marcus. I fully agree with you. I think the Church/ Pope did it because they needed money for all their art, building and personnel. Indulgences are just ridiculous.

  • Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  • @lordrobin0 This isn't biased, this is historical fact. If you read about early Christianity and the Catholic church, you will probably begin to second guess its integrity and your won belief like I have. It was a completely corrupt insitiution with its main focus on contolling people and taking their money. To speak or act against it was a sure way of a brutal death.

  • The Catholic point of view already exists .... it is called the COunter reformation... look it up..... I also suggest reading a copy of The Book Of Concord and or Luther's Small Cathecism....

  • Fantastic how God used just one man to so brutally wound whoreish Rome. Reminds me of the 300 with Gideon that were used by the Lord to save Israel from the Midianites. God always seems to use the weak things of this world for His glory. Even God incarnate was of no form nor comeliness, despised and rejected of men, and we esteemed him not (Isaiah 53). Glory to God alone!

  • Interesting documentary, but I am still looking for one with the Catholic point of view. All these documentaries can be very biased at times, but that is expected as they are made by protestant organisations.

  • @marcusamarrious I believe, Marcus, it's to do with lack of repentence/taking personal responsibility. This is a 2 way street. We cannot just go on "sinning", etc, just because God forgives us. We have to take personal responsibility and truly turn away from it........and if we don't, we pay the price. That is where, I believe, the true problem lies. Hope that makes sense???????????

  • @englishfrenchgerman Sir, have you even read the Bible. You are wrong, for if man could be saved by good works then we are all damned to hell. For it is written, "There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." (Rom 3: 10-12) I am a Christian, a true Christian, not a catholic!

  • This was all during the reign of the "MEDICI" popes i might add.....enough said lol

  • A monk should not set about his own monasticism with the intention of achieving heaven. He should say in his heart 'I am become a slave and have made my sole purpose the salvation of souls, if at the end of my days God should deign to destroy me then let His will be done'. Otherwise his entire spiritual enterprise is void because he makes a material goal of salvation. Thus it is my suspicion that the God that demands such a degradation is a bullshit lie, and all who follow him are cowards.
