Song originally written by Syd as a teen during the height of Bob Dylan mania in Europe (pre-Pink Floyd).
During the recording of one of his solo albums (post-Pink Floyd), Syd was reminded of this track by producer David Gilmour & encouraged to record it. That tape stayed in Gilmours possession for 30+ years until released in 2001. In "Bob Dylan Blues", Syd not only composes a song poking fun at all of the Bob Dylan hype, but manages to do it in Bob Dylan's own talking blues style!
The music video is by director Jimmy Lee. It was made during his freshman year of college at Temple University in Philadelphia. This was his first attempt at editing a video on a computer.

Ever since I first heard this I've hailed it as incredible. Syds lyrics are brilliant in this tune.
"Well I sings about dreams and I ryhmes it with seams cause it seems that my dream always means" that is amazing lyric writing. We can only imagine what Syd was capable of had he not had his break down. This song to me put Syd right up there on Bob Dylans level and that's a place that few musicians ever achieve. No doubt about it, Syd Barrett was a genius in his own right.

just learned how to play this amazing song: none of my friends know "Bob Dylan Blues" or even who Syd Barrett was, but I don't care too much about that!

It's so strange this song was recorded in 1970. By that time Syd's music had that odd, unpredictable timing, his lyrics were less tangible, and his vocals were less enthusiastic. This sounds like the pre-Summer '67 Syd. Somehow, because he wrote it when he was younger, he was able to summon the playing style of his younger years. Definitive proof he was capable of another 'See Emily Play', but just chose not to make music like that anymore, for reasons only he knew.

Are you fucking mental?!? He painted himself in to his bedroom! You're in denial, I absolutely adore Syd Barret but as Rick Wright said, The acid fried his brains it destroyed him, Sadly he just took to much and went insane.
