Sierra Mountain Guides, Howie Schwartz & Jed Porter take a day off in the record drought of winter 2011-12 to climb a big ice line on Clouds Rest in the Yosemite high country. They found plenty of varied terrain with very thin or lacking ice in places, and they had an opportunity to employ some rarely used or thought of "advanced" ice aid techniques. A great day in the mountains, just moments before the Tioga Pass Road shut down for the season.
